The endoscopic treatment of a prolapsed intervertebral disc is an alternative to an open surgical operation – a hemilaminectomy of the lumbar spine. Either a transforaminal or an intralaminar approach is possible. It is one of the minimally invasive endoscopic techniques that have been successfully used in treating degenerative diseases of the intervertebral discs.
